Bum ba ta

In the 1970s cockfighting, like many other traditional practices in country towns in Cuba, was prohibited by the government. In Luna’s hometown cockfighting still existed in a hidden manner. Occasionally on Sundays people traveled deep into the forest to see their roosters fight and also to shout their frustrations against the government. Luna remembers this as a free moment where everybody could express their true ideas and the cockfight was the perfect excuse.
